Humanist Visit

This half term, Year 6 have been investigating the topics “What Matters Most to Christians and Humanists?” as part of our RE topic. We were lucky to be visited by Kevin, a Humanist, who talked to us about what it is like to be a Humanist, and take questions from the children too.

Mental Health Week

This week was Mental Health Week, the theme was ‘My Voice Matters’. Secret friend

This week is Children’s Mental Health with the theme ‘being ourself’. We talked about how everyone is unique and special. We’re then given a name of someone in our class and it was our jobs to do something this week to make them smile! Year 2 Forest School

This week in forest school Year 2 Ash used their team work skills to build their own shelters. We definitely needed them in the rainy weather we had!! We also made winter pictures using natural materials from the forest and we always have lots of fun exploring. Z

Menu Design

Following on from our ‘Farm to Fork’ research session, Year 6 were then tasked with designing a three course menu, using ingredients and dishes that complimented each other. We decided on bruschetta to start, chicken fajita mains and fruit kebabs for dessert. We chose three dishes that are healthy, contribute towards our 5 a day, and give us a balance of nutrients from different food groups.

Juniper enjoyed a lesson with their families this morning. It was lovely to see the joy on their faces. We all worked together, thinking about the Christian value of ‘Love’ to decorate a plant pot ready for Valentines Day. Each child planted a sweetpea inside the pot. Please enjoy the photos below.

Safer Internet Day

This week we have been learning about keeping safe online.  We discussed how using Purple Mash we can complete ‘safe’ searches and what this means – all the content in Purple Mash is created for children, there are no links outside of Purple Mash and details of your work are only shared on Purple Mash, not anyone outside of school.  We compared this to searching online and what we can do if we encounter anything Read more

Science club have been working towards the Crest Award. In order to be successful, the children have the independently complete different challenges. This week the children completed the task ‘Crafty rafts’. We then tested them in water to see which raft held the most amount of counters before it sank.

Farm to Fork

As part of our D&T Come Dine with Me topic, we looked at how the ingredients we will be using, make it to the shelves in the supermarket.   We looked at how they are grown, picked, packed, shipped and delivered across different continents around the globe or from within Britain itself.
