Year 6 took part in a forest school session led by Mrs Lang. They used natural resources to create a Christmas wreath, producing some fantastic results.

As we approach our Christmas Fair, Year 5 have been busy supporting the event by showing business acumen and enterprising skills. They have supported the fair by costing, budgeting, purchasing and making lots of fantastic sweet treats that can be bought on the day across various stalls. Ethos Council
Visit to the care home with Holy Family
Today, our Ethos Council went to visit Springbank care home along with the Ethos council from Holy Family. The Ethos council children made Christingles with the residents and explained what each part means. They also helped to colour in pictures of Christingles and then wrote prayers for the residents. Geography
Geography – fieldwork
As part of our Geography topic (fieldwork), Year 6 visited Queen’s Park to conduct a field sketch. The children looked at how and why geographers conduct field sketches before they went out to do their own. The children used OASIS (orientation, annotation, sight, information and scale) as a key to ensure they had included everything they needed for a successful sketch. Well done Year 6.

The children in Juniper have been given the opportunity to run a stall at the Christmas Fair this year and to plan, research, source and make the products that we will sell. MeerKat Christmas
We have introduced our new story MeerKat Christmas. We have looked at the shapes so we know how to set out a postcard. We looked at the journey of a postcode from being posted in the post box, going through the post office and finally getting to its destination. We then created thought showers about what could make the perfect Christmas.

Particle and Chemical Essay
To end our science topic, Year 6 produced high-quality academic essays to show how much we learnt across our unit. We looked at the key concepts, knowledge and facts that we knew and then planned how to articulate these, using our writing skills and academic vocabulary. We then used a range of layout devices such as high quality diagrams to ensure our essays were attractive and easy to follow.

Properties of metal
Today we have been linking our English and our science together to investigate the properties of metal. We will use these findings in our science investigation “why do we use metals?” and also in our big write when we write our own version of the Iron man story. Spotty day for CIN 2023
Thank you to everyone who came to school dressed for our spotty theme and made a donation to Children in Need. Each class learnt more about the charity, discussed the importance of charities and how we can play our part in helping others, as well as additional activities.
