Thank you to all of the parents who attended our Phonics workshop and stay and play session. All of the children have really enjoyed sharing their learning with you and showing you around the classroom.
During our D&T lessons this half term we will be making pavilions for endangered animals. Today we looked at building structures to try and get some inspiration for our designs. The children worked in groups and were given time to make basic geometric structures before exploring creating larger structures, considering aesthetics, strength and stability.
As part of our learning, in the lead up to Christmas, we have been discussing angels and whether or not we believe in them. Many religions talk about angels. In PE, Year 6 have been looking at how they can create their own routines in gymnastics. They have had to think about skills that can flow after each other, how to balance and travel effectively, and complexity of moves. Rowan worked extremely hard and were recognised for their attitude and effort last week.
Year 4s Science topic this half term is ‘Rocks.’ We looked at a range of metamorphic, sedimentary and igneous rocks and conducted an experiment to see if they were permeable or not.
Year 4 looked at a range of different printing techniques to create a piece of collaborative art.
Last week was ‘Antibullying week’ The theme this year is ‘ make some noise.’ The antibullying ambassadors held an assembly to speak to both KS1 and KS2 about this years theme and what they can do if they feel like they are being bullied or if they think someone else might be being bullied.
This week in cookery club we made cheese and ham toasties. The children followed the recipe and built their sandwich before using the toastie machine to toast them. The smell coming from the classroom led to lots of hungry teachers wanting a toastie for tea.
In RE this half term, we are looking at different festivals. Today we looked at the question: What is Christmas? The children shared what Christmas means to them and we also discussed why Christmas is important to Christians. The children worked in groups to act out the nativity and then worked on sequencing the story.
