Queen’s jubilee
We have had so much fun celebrating the Queen’s jubilee. We have been learning all about Queen Elizabeth and have spent today making crafts and icing cakes. We even had a picnic on the grass at dinnertime to celebrate.

This week we have took part in lots of Queen’s Jubilee activities. We have completed Jubilee themed maths and English, created London themed book marks and created coasters in the shape of crowns which we can use with our new Jubilee mugs. Year 3 have had a wonderful time working with workers from the Willmott Dixon company to create a bug hotel fit for a Queen Bee. We also enjoyed planting and weeding and consolodating our learning from our Science topic Plants by getting Kaden’s garden ready for the Jubillee celebrations. Year 2 and Year 4 worked together to create a collaborative collage for the Queen’s Jubilee.
Today’s final forest school session took us off school grounds and into Queens Park. The children had a great time racing ducks in the stream before continuing our walk into the park. On route we spotted a mother duck with her baby goslings. Then, we walked over to the play area where we enjoyed ice pops and quality time with our friends.
To begin our latest art unit, we brought in 5 items that are special to us. These ranged from pictures, toys, teddies, clothing and other interesting items. Our project involves creating a box to keep the items in, with 4 different pieces of artwork to be created for the faces of the box. To begin our science topic – Cells – we looked at what characteristics organisms need have to be classed as living. We used the term ‘Mrs Gren’ to help us to remember all 7: Movement, respiration, sensitivity, growth, reproduction, excrete and nutrition.
