Great Science Share 2022

This week the whole school have participated in ‘The Great Science Share 2022’. The children had an opportunity to work scientifically and plan, investigate and discuss their own investigations. They looked at ‘which sunglasses were best at blocking light?’, ‘what material would be best for an umbrella and why?’, ‘how much oil and liquid do you need to make a lava lamp?’ and ‘what material works best for reducing / muffling sound?’. The children had Read more

It was wonderful to see so many children engaged in their maths learning, having fun and putting their number skills to the test! Well Read more

Maths Corousel

We had a great time using our mathematical skills to complete the maths challenges at the maths carousel today. We worked in pairs to solve the maths problems and move around the hall to try and complete as many as we could. We had lots of fun, thank you to all of the Year 4 children for helping and Mrs. Grindrod for organising it for us.

Great Science Share

We had lots of fun at the ‘Great Science Share’. We got involved with lots of different experiments including lava lamp making; can you keep the caterpillar dry; which material can keep the alarm clock quiet and which sunglasses keep out the most light. We asked our own scientific questions and had lots of fun!

Forest School Fun

Yesterday Year 5 were very excited to be back at forest school! We had an opportunity to show off all the skills we have learnt in forest school to some special visitors that were coming to find out more about forest school. We started by thinking about the flora and fauna in the area and playing a hide the object game using clues about the area to describe the hiding place. After this, we had Read more

Great Science Share

Thank you Mrs Alderson, Miss Wilde and the Year 6 children for a fun afternoon of science!!! We did lots of different experiments including: which sunglasses keep out the most light, how to keep a (toy) caterpillar dry, making a lava lamp and which material can keep the alarm clock quiet.

Science Experiments

Today the children had lots of fun doing all different science experiments. They each went to different stations which had different activities on. The children made their very own larva lamps using oil, water and food colouring. They also learnt which sunglasses are the best for keeping the sun out. The children used all different kinds of materials to see which would be useful for making an umbrella. They put water on paper, tissue paper, Read more

National Fieldwork Week

Year 3 have been improving our geography skills by branching out into field work. We used mapped out and mapped a route around key areas of school and used a trundle wheel to create an arcurate map of our school.  Here are some pictures of our learning

Jubilee Party!

The children have had a wonderful day today for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. We have learnt lots of facts about the Queen and her life during her 70 years on the throne. We have enjoyed making lots of decorations and cakes! We also had a special ‘afternoon tea’ picnic together on the grass.
