Library Visit

This morning Reception have been very busy going to the library. We walked to Heywood library sensibly with our partners. Once we arrived at the library, we all sat down and read some books together. This week Year 3 have been learning about the ring of fire. In groups of four, we each had a different area/ section of a map, on which we used co-ordinates to plot volcanoes that have erupted in the last few hundred years. Supertato To The Rescue!

Reception have had an unwanted visitor these past two weeks… the Evil Pea! He first came into our classroom and took our carrots!! Supertato then left us a letter and asked for our help. Over the past two weeks The Evil Pea has done lots of silly things! We have been trying to help Supertato by making traps for the Evil Pea and making wanted and warning posters. Wriggle and crawl

To begin our topic last week we went on a minibeast hunt in Kayden’s garden. However as it was very wet outside we only managed to find a few Minibeasts hiding. Year 5 Egyptian Shared Learning

Thank you to everyone who joined us this morning for our shared learning and lunch. We had a great time learning about hieroglyphics and writing and reading messages in ancient Egyptian writing. We then found out about the ancient Egyptian mummification process and how they removed their organs and stored them in canopic jars. Ring of fire

Today, year 3 located and plotted the different volcanos that form the ring of fire. They used maps and coordinates to help them. They learnt that 75% of the world’s active volcanos are located here.

Layers of the Earth 🌍

This week year 3 have been learning about the layers of the Earth. After finding out the names for last weeks homework, today we found out more information about each layer, including temperatures, sizes and what they were made up of. We then used our knowledge to help us to create a model of the Earth. We then cut through the centre to reveal the layers.

How is a volcano formed?

This week we have been learning about how a volcano erupts and how it forms a cone shape. We began by learning about tectonic plates and how they move. We then learnt new vocabulary with actions for the parts of a volcano and created a chant to help us learn the process of the volcano.
