Online safety- challenge 3

Our challenge this half term was focused on ‘Safer Internet day’. Over the passed few weeks we have been meeting to prepare for a KS1 and a KS2 assembly where we talked about the importance of online safety.   In addition to this each class had a new class book based on safer Internet. The digital leaders went to read Troll stinks to both reception classes and Chicken clickin to Year 1.

🌋 Birch shared learning and lunch 🌋

Thank you to all the family members that joined Birch for their shared learning and lunch this week. The children had so much fun telling and showing you what we have been learning about in topic this half term. They especially loved you getting messy building volcanoes with them. We hope you enjoyed it too. Look out for our post when we explode our volcanoes!

Random act of kindness

This week has been random act of kindness day. Ash have been writing ‘Bee happy’ messages and have been putting them up around school. We have been writing jokes or messages to make everyone smile. Look out for our signs around school.   We have also been colouring in some pictures with kind messages on then giving them special people.

Laptops 💻

We have been very busy creating a superhero picture on the laptops. Everyone could choose whether they wanted to make a logo or a superhero. We were very lucky because the digital leaders came into class to help us use the laptops and create our pictures. Thank you!

Superheroes!

This week we have been designing our own superheroes. We have carefully thought about our super powers, adjectives describing our superheroes and what our costume would look like. We have then been very busy designing and making our own capes and masks. Today we have been able to wear them and be real superheroes!

Secret Reader

Thank you to Erin’s mum for being our secret reader this morning! We loved having you in class and bringing in your special story. Thank you! If you would like to be our secret reader after half term please speak to your teacher. Thank you!

Random Act of Kindness

for our act of kindness, Year 6 started to lead into our new topic: Darwin’s Delights.   Much of Darwin’s research centred around bird, most famously the finches of the Galápagos Islands. We created bird feeders from lard and seed mix and set them in cups around string.   the feeders have been put into the fridge to set and we will hang them around school tomorrow afternoon.

Random act of kindness day

Year 5 decided to collect animal food for Bleakholt Animal Sanctuary this week to celebrate ‘Random act of kindness day’. Thank you to everyone who has donated. Miss Steele will deliver them this weekend. There has been lots of kind things going on in the classroom this week!
