Colour Mixing

This week during Arts week, we have been focusing on colour mixing. Firstly, we observed mixing the colours in paint pockets. We all had a turn to see what would happen if we mixed two colours together. We then went in the outdoor area and experimented with colour mixing in a large area. We then practised colour mixing inside on palettes. We learnt what a palette was and enjoyed mixing colours in a small area. Read more

Eco Council Reminder

It is KS1’s turn this half term so please bring your wellies in each Tuesday if you attend Eco club!    We will be getting out into the school grounds and with the weather like it is, we WILL be getting muddy boots so wellies and a spare plastic bag to put them in is advisable.   Thank you,   Mrs Nuttall x

Andy Warhol-Pop Art

This week we have been learning about Andy Warhol. To begin we went outside to find out lots of facts about Warhol. We know is birth name was Andrew Warhola and he pioneered a new art movement called Pop Art. Art week – Georgia O’Keefe

This week has been Art week at St Luke’s. Year 3 have been learning about the Artist Georgia O’Keefe and looking at her style and techniques to create a piece of Art in the same style.    At the beginning of the week the classroom was set up with numerous pieces of Art by the artist, which the children viewed like an art gallery discussing the work with others they met on the way round. Art Week- Raewyn Harris

This week we have been looking at the artist ‘ Raewyn Harris.’ Raewyn is famous for creating Koru art. The Koru is a spiral shaped plant. To people of New Zealand, the Koru represents the unfolding of new life or renewal. First we looked at and discussed Raewyn’s art work. Next we experimented with different designs inspired by her work. Then we learnt how to blend colours with oil pastels. Our final pieces look amazing!

Art Week – Picasso

This week we have been learning all about Pablo Picasso! We looked at his style and then watched a video on how someone else did a picture that was similar to one of his. Non Chronological report

This week we have started our new English topic about butterflies. Year 1 Willows routine update

Just an update of the revised routine for Year 1 Willows. There will also be a letter to go out to explain this. Mondays – Spellings go out Tuesdays – P.E. Thursdays – P.E., hand homework in (Starting on 16th January), including the Maths Passport homework Friday – Spelling test and hand in spelling book.   Reading is going to be changing but there will be a letter in due course to explain this.   Read more
