Year 4 had an exciting opportunity yesterday when a visitor came from Touchstones to inspire us with our learning this half term. We had the chance to learn about the Romans from an expert. The children asked lots of fantastic questions and were very knowledgeable by the end of the session. We can now use all this information to help us during this half term with our topic on ‘The Romans’.
Today, year 4 had a very exciting lesson! A visitor from touchstones came to speak to us all about the Romans. We looked at and discussed Roman artifacts, worked as group to try and build a straight road and learnt lots of interesting facts about the Romans.

We have been very busy this half term completing lots of different activities during our Wednesday dinner time club. To end our topic we have been discussing what different things we would like in Heywood and how we could make these places look really fun and brighten up Heywood. We had lots of fantastic ideas from toy shop to museums. The children then worked really hard creating a design then making a 3D model on purple mash of different buildings. This was a lovely way to end our Street Detectives topic.
Year 3 have had a fantastic afternoon at their Christmas party. We played lots of games, danced, sang and ate party food. All the Year 3 staff wish the children and their families a fantastic Christmas 😀🎅
Year 5 and 6 performed amazingly last week. They have been working hard with their music teacher each week. They have learnt how to play lots of different chords and put them together to perform a variety of songs. I think the audience were very impressed and enjoyed singing along to some of the songs.
Year 5 had a fantastic time taking part in the hour of code session last week. We have been learning about coding in computing lessons and we were able to use these skills to produce some amazing computer programs. The children loved the Star Wars theme and enjoyed testing the algorithms and creating a game. Some children even managed to get to level 15! A great achievement!
We have had a very busy day this day! This morning, we had our Christmas party. It was lots of fun! We did lots of dancing, played different games and even played pass the parcel.
