Tree Boggarts

Our topic this half term is the enchanted woodland. Today we have looked at mythical creatures that might live in the woods. We went outside and made tree boggarts in the wooded area at the bottom of the field. We used clay and natural materials from outside. See if you can spot them as you walk past!

Challenge 2

For challenge 2 we created two different videos.  For the first video we created step by step instructions on how to log onto a computer.  This is then going to be used to help reception and Year 1 children: Click the link below https://stlukesceprimaryco-my.sharepoint.com/:v:/g/personal/sgraham_stlukesceprimary_co_uk/ETJ96wjQYihKtHQy4e88fLcBOVtd19jTjH2U8HNCqekhYg?e=A1B8kN For the second video we have created instructions on how to comment on the St Luke’s blog page. We found that not many parent/children comment on the blog so we thought Read more

The Watertower

Today saw possibly the most amazing reaction to a book we have ever witnessed in Year 6. For the past week, the children have been studying and inferring ideas and information from our latest book, The Watertower. Each day we revealed part of the story; each day the children complained that we had to stop! The slow reveal (a strategy embedded within our Write Stuff approach to writing) really hooked the children until eventually, Mr Read more

Starfly

In Year 6,we have had the opportunity to work with author Yvonne Weatherhead on her Starfly book series.   Some of the children have spent a number of 3-4 day sessions studying the book, its characters, themes and images. As well as this, the children have been afforded the opportunity to edit chapters of the book, having their name published in the book to acknowledge their work.   This week, the children focused on ‘The Read more

We had lots of animal books, soft toys and pictures of animals to examine and compare. We spent time doing this and Read more

Meditation Time

This half term, Year 6 are investigating prayer as meditation.   To start our topic, the children took part in a series of guided meditations and then discussed the impact and effect they had on themselves, and how they felt they would impact on others.   After much relaxation (and some snoring) the children came up with some incredibly thoughtful and mature ideas to support the use of guided meditation. The class agreed on the Read more

Scrumdidlyumptious!

A fantastic start to the new year in Year 3. We began the week looking into our new topic titled ‘scrumdidlyumptious’. This is a topic based around food. We began the week by talking about the difference between fruits and vegetables and tasted various ones including, Lychee, Pineapple, Grapefruit, mushroom, radish, sugar snap peas, plum and cucumber. Miss Lomax was really impressed that every child in the class tried each one. Well done Birch.
