On Friday 13th December, we officially opened our outdoor classroom. We have named it ‘The Rush Room’ in memory of our Governor; Councillor Peter Rush. Well done to everyone who took part in craft club this half-term. We had lots of fun completing activities such as making Christmas tree decorations, wooden gonks, cupcake decorating, paper aeroplanes and much more. We have had to use, and have improved, many of our essential skills such as listening and problem solving. We have had a particular focus on creativity and staying positive.

Today we finished our off our day topic around seasonal eating by making a rainbow tart. we really enjoyed making and eating
We evaluated different ingredients last lesson so this lesson we could choose the most appropriate ingredients for our tarts. We chose tomato base or a BBQ base with tomatoes, spinach and cheese. We made some tarts that did not have veggies on them just in case someone didn’t like spinach or whole tomatoes. Then we evaluated our decisions after tasting these lovely treats. We enjoyed eating them and would love to do this again!
For a Christmas maths activity – we created snowmen using a number of different rules. Working in pairs we had a race to create a maths snowman! A great way to practice our square numbers relating to our numbersense work and recapping some of our other multiplication facts!
Year 1 have been learning about ‘part- whole models’ and how we can use them to help us think about fact families. We have used lots of manipulatives such as 5-wise, base 10 and cubes to show different fact families. This week, we have been using our knowledge of number bonds to draw part-whole models, and have been writing addition number sentences and learning about the commutative law.
In class today we discussed the “What Would Jesus Do?” (WWJD?) movement. We looked into what the movement is and its abbreviation. We were able to learn about different ways in which a Christian may confess their sins to God if they were to give in to temptation, have a difficult situation to handle, or be presented with a dilemma. Our hour of coding was spent completing a Minecraft coding challenge. We absolutely loved this and figured out how to make our Minecraft character move using code.
Year 2 were questioned by the Geography lead to see if they could remember key facts from their lessons from Year 1 and 2. They used Santa to show their understanding. They did so well remembering the continents, the oceans and the 4 point compass.
