Musical notes

On Wednesday afternoon, Juniper enjoyed listening to a song called Make You Feel My Love, originally by Bob Dylan and then re-recorded by Adele. They learnt some of the lyrics and had a go at singing along. In addition to this, they also played some notes from the song on the glockenspiel. Each week they will be learning more notes, until hopefully they can play the whole tune. Watch this space!

Forgiveness. Can Bible stories of lost and found help people today?

Today, we looked at Bible stories about forgiveness and reconciliation. We looked at the lost son, the lost sheep, the lost coin and the unforgiving servant. We discussed what the stories meant and how we can use Jesus’ teachings of forgiveness in our lives today. We then reflected and asked when and why we need forgiveness and why it can be hard to forgive others when we are wronged. After that, we looked at Jesus Read more…

Lost and Found at Forest School

Year 5 had their first session back at Forest School and had a fantastic time. This half term, we are linking our forest school sessions with stories from the Bible and reflecting on what they mean to us. First we were put into teams and thought about belonging to a team. The children agreed on a team logo and used mud to paint their logo. This week the theme was lost and found. In pairs, Read more…

Shang dynasty

This half term we will be learning about the Shang Dynasty. We started our learning by going on an adventure to ancient China. We saw an ancient home, the ancient palace of the Emperor and the ancient barracks of the Great Wall of China. Here are some pictures of our learning.

Music 🎵

Bluebells are really enjoying their music sessions with Miss Taylor on a Friday afternoon. As we are learning about Superheroes this half term, we have been talking about our favourite superhero. We then sang superhero songs whilst practising our high and low notes. The children have enjoyed playing different musical instruments to play alongside a superhero theme tune. Everyone tried really hard to keep in time with the music.

Forces

This half term we are learning all about Magnetism. This lesson we have been investigating 2 different types of forces: contact forces and non-contact forces. We discussed and watched clips about friction, upthrust, air resistance, water resistance, gravitational force and magnetic force. We carried out some mini experiments to see each force in action. Then we finished off by testing our new found knowledge, by carrying out a sorting activity of forces.

Colour mixing

Working in pairs, we investigated colour mixing using both primary and secondary colours. We fixed paper into a tray and used a wide brush to coat the paper with a thin layer of water. We then took turns choosing two primary colours, squeezing or pressing the paint onto the damp paper and then tilting the tray to allow the paint to spread and mix on the surface. We noticed primary colours blending to make secondary Read more…

Making Music

A fantastic first day back in Year 2. We began our new topic ‘Making music’ in computing. The children enjoyed experimenting using 2sequence to compose their own music. They then looked at the tune of Twinkle Twinkle and added different instruments alongside the drum beat, to create a new version.

Elf houses

We have been working with clay this half term. We have been practising moulding, rolling and using a ‘slip’ to stick pieces together. We all then designed 3 elf houses and picked our favourite to make out of clay. We used these different clay techniques to create our elf houses.
