Number Sense!

Since the start of this year, everyday we have completed our Number Sense work to work on our rapid mental recall of certain multiplication facts. So far this year we have worked on our doubles, two times table and square numbers. We always recite these as a class and recall the biggest factor first. We really enjoy our daily sessions and they really help during our power maths lessons!

Hour of Code!

For today’s computing lesson we enjoyed an hour of coding! The children were able to work independently or collaboratively to complete the coding tasks of their choice. It was great to see a range of codes create to complete the games

Hour of code

This week we have taken part in ‘Hour of Code’ during our computing lesson. Hour of code is a worldwide movement that aims to introduce millions of children to computer science through one hour coding activities. The children had a great time learning some basic coding skills. Well done Year 5 Pine.

Hour of Code

In Computing today, Juniper and Pine took part in a coding session for ‘Hour of Code’, which is where millions of students all over the globe celebrate Computer Science Education. The children put their coding skills to the test as they were able to input their codes to create different shapes whilst also using different colours. The children worked really well on their coding and produced some amazingly colourful heart shapes! Well done!

Becoming Geologists: Exploring Rocks, Fossils, and Earth’s Layers!

This half term, our class has been diving into the world of rocks, fossils, and geology, taking on the role of real-life geologists. We explored the three types of rocks—igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic—and learned how they form and what makes them unique. We sharpened our skills by classifying rocks based on their colour, shape, texture, and size. It was exciting to discover shiny crystals, rough textures, and even surprising patterns in the rocks we studied. To Read more

Reception – Stickman

This week, Reception were reading Stickman – we love Julia Donaldson stories and are so good at remembering the jobs of Authors and Illustrators, and what a title and blurb are. While reading stickman, we looked at the different seasons that we might see throughout the story and recognised signs of the seasons. At the beginning of the week, we went on a stick hunt to find our perfect Stickman stick, they were very wet Read more
