This afternoon Maple have been learning how to measure sound in decibels. We measured the sound levels made by a variety of musical instruments using a sound meter and recorded them in a table. We then used the results to draw a graph. Did you know the loudest burp ever recorded measured 109dB – that’s not far off the loudest dog bark ever recorded at 113dB!
As part of our topic this half term ‘The Scented garden’ we went into Kaden’s garden to complete a 5 senses scavenger hunt. First we watched a clip about our 5 senses then we had to find different things in Kaden’s garden using our senses. The sun was shining and we had a fun afternoon outside.
We had lots of fun outside today! We learnt how to use clay to make coil pots. It was a bit messy, but we loved experimenting with the clay! We are looking forward to when the clay dries, so then we can paint them and use them to grow a plant or flower in. We will post pictures of our pots when they are finished! 😃
Well done to the WHOLE school, including the Eco Council for achieving the Green Flag Award. We are so pleased it has finally arrived! We have been working so hard for the past few years to work towards this prestigious award so we are very proud of all children and staff within school.
Hawthorn have been enjoying the outdoors today. We really enjoyed working as a team to build twig teepees and bug hotels. Well done year 4!
We are super excited to be back in school with all of our friends. Our teachers have been so proud of us all coming back to school, we even got a certificate for our hard work. This afternoon Maple have been making worry dolls. The aim of our worry dolls is to help us work through our worries, by telling our dolls what is bothering us. We might then want to share our worries with a friend or a trusted adult. For now, our worry dolls are helping us in school, but next week the children will be bringing them home.
