Year 6 have been looking Arvada amours landmarks across London which were targeted or damaged during the Blitz. We looked out how cityscapes take the landmarks and place them side by side to create a silhouette of a city. Stonehenge art

This week we have started on our new topic about the Stone Age. We have started reading the Stone Age boy and have started writing our own Stone Age adventure story. In the afternoons, we have been creating art work for the front of our Topic books. Here are some pictures of our art.

Running Rivers and Majestic Mountains!

Maple’s new topic this half term is ‘Misty Mountains, Winding Rivers’. We have been imagining what it would be like to stand at the foot of a towering mountain or sit by a fast-flowing river. This week, Year 5 have made an excellent start to their new topic ‘Stargazers’ by learning about the planets. We began by creating art work for the front covers of our books, then we learnt the names of the planets and the order from the sun. Season Trees – finger painting!

This afternoon we have done a lovely art lesson where the children used colour to make season trees. They thought about what the trees would look like at each time of the year and created beautiful pictures to represent each season.   I love the winter ones the best with the glittery snow!   Take a look below at our wonderful work 🙂

Street detectives

Our new topic this half term is called Street detectives.  We went on a virtual tour around Heywood using Google Earth.  We looked at different places in Heywood and talked about places that are not in Heywood as well. We then worked in groups to sort pictures of different places that are ‘In Heywood’ and ‘Not in Heywood’.
