This afternoon in Topic we learnt about the role of an archaeologist. We looked at the process they undertake which taught us new vocabulary like excavate. We then took on the role of an archaeologist and excavated various artefacts.

In today’s maths lesson, we had to search for questions around the playground, which related to different things we have learnt. Each answer linked to a letter, which we used to form a word.
This term our topic is Julia Donaldson. Each week we will read a different story written by Julia Donaldson and our first week was Zog! For World Mental Health Day, we all wore yellow. Throughout the day we took part in lots of lovely activities and talked about how it is important to keep our mind healthy as well as our body. In RE we are learning about Jesus’ life as a journey. We shared important milestones in our lives and discussed why they were important and meaningful as part of our life’s journey. We talked about the difference between secular and religious milestones and and how they might be celebrated in different faiths.

I know we can’t have our choir practice in these challenging times but please do not stop singing it is really good for your mind. Sing in the shower, in your house and even with your family. Today Willows have been learning all about temperature and how to read a thermometer! Mrs Nuttall tested how warm her hands were and demonstrated how the liquid goes up and down based on the temperature. We all went outside in pairs and were very patient waiting for the thermometers to read the temperature in the Year 1 playground.
