Linking Project – Hawthron

Last week, Hawthorn enjoyed at trip to the M6 theatre to meet their new linking partners for this year! We had a great day. During the trip, we met our linking partners, we watched A Tigers Tale performed by the staff at the M6 theatre. We then had our own drama workshops and worked with the staff to recreate part show! We had a great time!

Layers of our Earth!

During our science topic this half term, year 4 have been focusing on different types of rock. During our first lesson, we investigated the 4 main layers of our Earth. We created our own 3D models and could name each layer.

Pavilions!

During this half term, Year 4 have been working hard to create their 3D pavilions. They have created their reinforced structures and then create their own cladding to improve the design. The children worked very well to collaboratively create their pavilions.

Year 3 Birch – investigations

Year 3 loved creating their ramps out of different material to test how far the toy car travelled. They used the same car, left the height of the ramp the same but changed the material that was on the ramp. We were talking about friction and how some materials create more friction and some create less.

Christingle

This morning we have made our Christingles in class. We learnt about the different parts of a Christingle and what they represent: Orange – the world Red ribbon – Jesus’ blood Cocktail sticks – the four compass directions and the four seasons Sweets – the fruits of the Earth Lit candle – Jesus as light of the world

Year 2 Elm visit to the Cherwell Centre

Year 2 had been invited to the Cherwell Centre today and had such an amazing time. They were treated to a hot chocolate and gingerbread man while surrounded by lots of elves (some naughty ones too). Afterwards they met Santa then went on to have a snowball fight with Elsa and Olaf. Finally they met some really cute reindeer’s and then sang Christmas songs with the elves.
