We have been learning about Pocahontas this week and have been putting events in order on a timeline. We then discussed how she helped others or changed lives and what she did that was unusual or remarkable.
Last week in Art, the children went on a ‘texture hunt’ around school. The children ventured around school with ipads and took pictures of many items that had a variety of textures. Once back in class, we looked at the photos we had taken and created a mind map of vocabulary that could describe the texture. Year 6 have been working extremely hard throughout Autumn 2, learning an incredible 10 songs on the violin. The children were absolutely fantastic at learning the different pieces, I’m sure parents will agree that their violin skills were super.
It was a very wet Forest School session, but the children still had lots of fun! We started our session in the wild forest, where we talked about our senses and reflected on what it might feel like to lose one of those senses. Last week, year 6 looked and discussed the term ‘trust’. We looked at the story of Jesus walking on water and this meant he trusted God and how his disciples trusted him. We then discussed who we trust and why or what we trust and why. Then, we drew around our hand and listed who we trusted. Well done year 6.

This week when we arrived at school we found fruit and vegetables trapped by the evil pea! He’d been in our classroom during the night causing mayhem! First, we all had to work together to free the fruit and vegetables and then we discussed what we should do next. This half term’s Christian value is trust. We looked at how the disciples trusted Jesus when he walked on water. We looked at who he trust the most in our lives and why. We drew around our hands and listed the 5 people we trusted the most.
