Birch loved this lesson on place value. They made numbers with the place value counters and added these up or taking away, looking for any exchanges needed. They showed great problem solving skills and listening skills throughout.
Today, Year 5 took part in a Santa Dash to raise money for a charity called Save the Children. The children all took part in a one mile dash around our playground by either walking, running or a mixture of the two. We had our Christmassy songs playing to keep us going in the cold. We all had a really fun time taking part and it really got us in the Christmas spirit!
Year 6 took part in a Santa Dash to raise money for charity. We each ran, jogged or walked 1 mile or more, with Christmas music and hot chocolate on hand to keep us going!
We popped on some Christmassy music and did our mile around our playground! We absolutely loved it but we were all tired by the end of it!
We researched different chicken fajita recipes to decide which would be easiest to recreate. From this we used Purple Mash to create our own recipe cards.
Year 6 used their story maps to create a text adventure linked to our English narrative writing. The reader makes text-based choices which decides outcomes for characters. We created pages and used navigation buttons to move to the correct page.
Well done to our Year 5/6 dodgeball team who came in first place. It was great to see new faces representing school for the first time and picking up a medal and trophy too!
This morning Year 5 went to church for our Christingle service. Everyone was absolutely amazing at singing and telling the story of Christingle. There were some beautiful singing voices and great participation.
Year 3 and Year 4 walked up to St Luke’s church this morning for our Christingle service. We spoke about the history of Christingle’s and sang some songs to everybody who came to watch. We finished with ‘We wish you a Merry Christmas’ which we sang but also signed.
This morning we have made our Christingles ready for the service at Church tomorrow. We learnt about the different parts of a Christingle and what they represent: Orange – the world Red ribbon – Jesus’ blood Cocktail sticks – the four compass directions and the four seasons Sweets – the fruits of the Earth Lit candle – Jesus as light of the world
