Power Prints!

For our final Art lesson, we created our own prints using different materials to show off our skills learnt during the half term. Children worked collaboratively to create their designs and print onto the materials.

Traffic Survey

Year 6 conducted their own traffic survey as part of our Fieldwork topic. We took a tally of how many cars passed the school, the type of vehicle and the colour of the vehicle. We used this to measure the volume of traffic and its impact on our school.

NatWest Money Sense

During financial awareness week, we were lucky enough to have a visit from Steph who taught us all about her job within finance and teach us about fraud. During this week, we learnt a lot about careers that can be held within the finance industry. We worked together to see if we could become detectives to solve the fraud case!

Pavilions lesson 1

This half term, year 4 are focusing on structure during their DT topic.  For the first lesson, the children worked together to create small 3D structures that we are to stand alone. They create different shapes to hold together and begin to understand how structures need stability and reinforcement.

Computing- Basic skills

Since starting Year 1, the children have been learning basic skills for computing. We began by finding out what technology is and doing a technology hunt, then found out a bit more about online safety before we started using the computers and learnt how to log in to purple mash using our own user names and passwords. We also spent some time navigating exploring 2paint.

Year 1 Art – Colour Splash

In our art lessons, we have been learning about primary and secondary colours, colour mixing techniques, and applying these skills in painting and printing. Together, we have explored and experimented with making different shades of one colour to develop our understanding of colours. We have been able to explore and confidently use colour to create a painted plate in the style of an artist. We have really enjoyed our Art lessons.

End of half-term dojo treat

As Year 1 received over 500 dojos last half-term, they were rewarded with a special treat day. We took part in a carousel of activities which included creating leaf pictures, watching something fun and decorations biscuits (and eating them of course!) Miss Lomax, Mrs Asif and all the year 1 staff are really proud of how well they have settled and how hard they have worked.

Year 1 Finance Week

On the last week before half-term, the whole school took part in finance week. Year 1 were very lucky to have two special visitors from two different banks, who were able to tell us all about their careers and what banks are for. They also helped us with our task for the morning. To begin, the children spent time in groups working with an adult to explore and learn how to recognise coins. We then Read more

A big thank you to all of the parents and grandparents that attended our share lunch and learning. It was a big success and the children and adults had a great time. We started our new topic about Human Lifestyle and learnt all about the organs in our body. We then completed a quiz about the heart, stomach, skin and skeleton. The answers were displayed around the hall. When the quizzes were completed the organs Read more
