Year 6 have started a new topic in science ‘energy’. We started the new topic by discussing key vocabulary, exploring energy and looking at the different energy stores, then we conducted an investigation with elastic bands. The children had to investigate how far the elastic band could travel. Children picked different elastic bands including thin ones, thick bands, different colour bands, long and short bands.
Then, they predicted which band would travel the furthest and gave a reason why considering the energy store presented in an elastic band and what energy it transfers into.
The children worked extremely well in teams and used scientific vocabulary throughout. Well done!
