This week, Ms Ali from the NatWest bank came to talk to us about money. We discussed whether we like to save money or spend it straight away. Seventeen of the children in class said they like to save, three like to spend it, and ten like to do a bit of both.
Afterwards, we completed three different activities. The first one was looking at ‘wants’ and ‘needs’—we discussed how we need to have food, water, clothes, and shelter and how other things are what we just ‘want’ like chocolate, trips out, or holidays.

In the second activity, we listened to a scenario about a boy who wanted a pet dog and then discussed what different things we would need to buy if we got a pet dog.

In the third activity, we listened to a story about Billy Goats Gruff who got money for their birthday.  The Billy Goats all did different things with their money. One spent his money on sweets, the second one put the money in his piggy bank and the third one gave the money to a shelter for sick animals. The children then discussed what they would do with their money and why.

We had a fun morning and learned about the importance of money.
