Yesterday Year 5 were very excited to be back at forest school! We had an opportunity to show off all the skills we have learnt in forest school to some special visitors that were coming to find out more about forest school. We started by thinking about the flora and fauna in the area and playing a hide the object game using clues about the area to describe the hiding place. After this, we had lots of exciting activities to choose from. Some children used tools to create a wooden medallion, some children created forest school obstacle courses using the natural environment, some children made nests in the woodland area and others cooked a delicious calzone on the campfire. Following this, we explored our local area on a walk and found the perfect spot for a duck race! Each child had their own duck to race. It was very exciting. At the end of the session, we talked about all the skills we have learnt in forest school over the year and how we have developed. These skills include: communication, team work, perseverance, tool work, fire-lighting, problem solving, risk taking.
