Year 5 started their new science topic today: Reproductive Cycles! We were introduced to some new life in our classroom. We have baby caterpillars and giant triops eggs. We are looking forward to seeing how they grow and develop. We are very curious to find out more about them.

We learnt the names and functions of the parts of the flower and how they are involved in reproduction. We learnt a rap to help us remember the names. We also dissected a flower in pairs and found and labelled all the parts of the flower. We found out about germination and the conditions needed for germination to happen. We also learnt about pollination and carried out a practical activity outdoors to demonstrate this using cheese puffs.
