In RE today Year 6 discussed vocabulary linking to different cases of good and bad, right and wrong. The children discussed and defined the meaning of fairness, justice, forgiveness and freedom.

The children then worked in groups to look at different newspaper reports on crimes in the UK. The children looked at animal cruelty, criminal damage and people skipping tram fares. The children discussed the crimes and whether the punishment was enough to ensure justice for the victims, but other will consider the consequences if they do a bad deed or commit a crime.

The children used the vocabulary learnt at the beginning of the lesson to support them when presenting their presentation to the class. They recognised that people are free to make their own choices in life, but some people will make a good choice because of their beliefs.

We then went back to our big question for our RE topic ‘What matters most to Christians or Humanists?’ to finalise our discussions and thoughts.
