This morning, Year 5 enjoyed taking part in a space detective workshop. We launched off into space and had a zoom call with a space expert. She was very knowledgeable and could answer all of our questions. We were particularly interested in finding out about rockets as part of our design and technology lessons. First we found out about the history of rockets and how they have changed over the years. We then discussed how rockets work and watched an experiment to explain the science behind them. We also found out what it is like to be in space and how the astronauts prepare for this. We then we had some thought-provoking questions about the future of rocket science and discussed whether we will be able to travel to space on holiday in our lifetime. Finally we all worked hard as rocket designers and created our own rockets- thinking about what we had learnt during the session.
