This week we have been learning about, ‘The Gingerbread Man’.
At the beginning of the week, we listened to the story and practised retelling it in our own way. We then went outside and created our own gingerbread person. We asked a friend to draw around our bodies and then we made ourselves into a gingerbread person. It was lots of fun! We had the think about the different features on a gingerbread person.
This week we have also been very busy learning about recipes. We have learnt how to follow a gingerbread recipe and then we have made our very own gingerbread person. Everyone had to concentrate fully when we were weighing out the ingredients and trying to make sure we were following the instructions correctly.
Once we had made the gingerbread people, we designed our own gingerbread person. We thought of a name and labelled all of our designs. Everyone then used their design to decorate their gingerbread person.
Finally, we were able to taste them. They were very yummy!
Today, we have been observing the changes to a gingerbread person. We have been learning about floating and sinking. We discussed whether we thought a gingerbread person would sink or float and how it would change in water. Everyone was then able to observe the changes and see if they were correct.
The gingerbread floated! Miss Longmire has kept the gingerbread in water over the weekend so we can see how it changes. I wonder what it will be like on Monday?
Everyone has done fantastic learning this week, well done!!
