Year one enjoyed their day exploring prayer in different ways today. They thought about tree rings and how they show the growth of a tree, then thought about how they’ve grown since they were born. They then write some lovely prayers saying thank you to God for helping them to grow. We also thought about where Christians live and looked on a world map and found out that Christians live all over the world. We watched some videos showing how Christians in Ethiopia live and what they do when they go to church. We thought about how their church was very different to ours. We discussed that even though the church was different, we still had the same beliefs. The children were then helped by the ethos team to write prayers for people around the world. After this, the children reflected on what Jesus looks like to them and drew some fantastic pictures. We talked about how Jesus might look different to different people and that’s okay. In the afternoon, we said a prayer for people who do not have a safe home to live in. During COOL time, some children chose to build houses for the children that we had spoken about. We also made some seed bombs and thought about how the seeds will grow and flourish if we look after them, just like the children grow and flourish with God’s love. A very busy day to end the half term.
