Year 4 invited their parents and carers into class to join in with a science experiment this morning. We all had a fantastic time investigating viscosity. First, we explored a range of different liquids and their properties. We then used our maths skills to measure accurately. After this, we planned and carried out our investigation by measuring the time taken for different liquids to travel down a ramp. We found out that honey and washing up liquid had a high viscosity, therefore flowed the slowest. We also found out that water and milk had a low viscosity and flowed the fastest. After this, we had lots of fun (and made lots of mess) making potions using the liquids. Finally, we all enjoyed a lovely lunch.
