Following the recent media coverage about racist comments made towards members of the England football team, Year 5 pulled away from our usual timetable to discuss our thoughts, feelings and opinions on racism and to learn more about what we can do as individuals to help make a change.

I was so incredibly impressed by the maturity of the children during this discussion. Each and every child shared such strong feelings about the subject that we spent our full afternoon voicing our opinions on racism and how we can play a part in making a change. The conversation also led to the class discussing equality for all, including race, religion, disability and LGBTQ+

It was so lovely to overhear the children continue these conversations amongst their friends today as they designed and created posters to display in school.

I am so incredibly proud of you Year 5, as I’m sure your families are.
