Under the current climate parents and carers may feel concerned about the amount of time children have had off school due to covid-19. They may be anxious that their child has “fallen behind” or may require additional support to “catch up”.

Schools are doing a great deal of work to identify children that require additional support and ensure that the support is available to help them feel confident and that they are achieving.

Parents and carers may however look to tutors to assist in improving their child’s educational development. If this is the case, RBSCP and Rochdale Borough Council as part of their safe after school campaign, have put together some guidance around choosing a tutor that we would really encourage parents and carers to follow, to help safeguard their child and chose a tutor that is right for them.

If parents and carers have any concerns about the safety of a child with a tutor, or another adult in a position of trust, then concerns should be reported to the council or the police – rochdale.gov.uk/childprotection
