This half term year 6 are focusing on online safety. In today’s lesson, we looked at ‘our digital footprint’. The childre defined the meaning of a digital footprint and started to understand how and why people use their information. Juniper have enjoyed visiting St Luke’s Church this morning to take part in some harvest experiences. The school’s Ethos Team did a great job of helping out our class to complete various experiences.
This week is coding week. Coding helps us to understand how programs work and can help us with our problem solving skills. We had 3 problems with our programs which we had to use our skills to help us fix the program.
This morning Year 6 celebrated the Harvest Festival at St Luke’s Church with Rev Kirsty and Kristen. The children visited different stations around the Church to share Bible quotes and complete activities linked to Harvets. The children discussed what Harvest is, why we celebrate Harvest and the main message of Harvest. We focused on vocabulary such as ‘peace, patience, joy, generosity and humility’. Today we linked our forest school session with our current RE question ‘Why do some people believe God exists?’. We looked at the beauty of nature and discussed why our natural world could lead to a person being a theist. Some of our children created their own prayers based on the discussion and we used these for our prayer at the end of the day. Part of our session was also dedicated to recycling week. Read more
In Learning for life this week Year one have been discussing feelings. We named lots of different feelings such as happy, scared, excited, nervous, sad and angry. We also talked about what makes us feel different ways. The children enjoyed acting out different emotions. We then played feelings charades. We also talked about who we can talk to about our feelings.
This week we have celebrated recycling week in year 2 by completing fun activities around recycling. We discussed why this is important and we coloured in a picture to remind us of how we can take care of our world. We then went outside and cleaned up our playground by litter picking.
This week was Recycling week, in Maple we discussed what recycling, reusing and reducing meant. We sorted images under the three categories and discussed how we could all be more environmentally friendly. We then designed our own recycling symbol, we came up with lots of brilliant designs!
To celebrate recycling week, year 1 have been learning about what happens to our waste and why recycling is important.
