Wiggle Worship

We have been really enjoying wiggle worship this half term. This week Wiggle has been showing us how we can help others over the summer holidays and preparing us for Year 1 in September. It’s lots of fun having Wiggle visit us in school and we love joining in with his songs and prayers.  

Art Week in Year 2

The whole school took part in an ‘Art Week’ last week. Year 2 studied the artist David Hockney. We found out lots of information about the artist and his creations and created an artist study in our sketchbooks. We then created our own Hockney inspired Art using acrylic paints.

Art week – Van Gogh

In Year 6 during Art Week, children thoroughly enjoyed creating their own artist study of Vincent van Gogh. We learned that he was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter and artist; we learned all about his life, his artwork and how he became one of the founders of Impressionism. Year 6 used their artistic skills and different techniques to replicate some of van Gogh’s paintings using acrylic paintings. Well done Year 6 for creating some amazing work!

Science club week 6

We had a great time at our last Science club this week making volcanoes. The children used scientific vocabulary and predicted what would happen when the vinegar and baking soda mixed together and how big the explosion would be. Art Week – Artist Study

In Year 5 during Art Week, children thoroughly enjoyed creating their own artist study of Claude Monet. We learned that he was a French artist and learned all about his life, his artwork and how he became one of the founders of Impressionism. Year 5 used their artistic skills and different techniques to replicate some of Monet’s paintings using watercolour paints. Well done Year 5 for creating some amazing work!

Springfield Park

Juniper really enjoyed our trip to Springfield Park last Thursday. We had an amazing opportunity to learn about and get really up close to some bees. We learnt lots of facts about their pollen and nectar, the Queen bee and the bee workers. We held some parts of the hive and saw the honeycomb they had made. Art week- William Morris

During Art week, Year 4 researched the artist ‘ William Morris.’ First they went on a hunt outside to find facts that were around the play ground about William Morris. Next, they used the facts they had learnt to create an artist research page. We then practised drawing flowers and leaves in the style of William Morris. Finally the children created their own pattern inspired by his work.
