African Drumming workshop

Rowan have enjoyed playing the Djembe – a goblet drum from Africa. Mr Genty from the Rochdale Music Service told the children all about the drums history and how the African people used to gather, sing and dance to the drums. The children really enjoyed beating the drums to a rhythm and even managed a performance to Bruno Mars’ ‘Uptown Funk’ by the end of the session. The children thoroughly enjoyed the session, well done.

Baby bear’s chair

We have been working together to create a chair for Baby bear. We needed to work together to make a chair that would not only be comfortable but would be strong as well. Once we finished the chairs, we tested how many books we could put onto them before they broke. We then recorded the results in a table using the headings less than 10 books, equal to 10 books, or more than 10 books. Read more

Children in Year 5 Juniper have thoroughly enjoyed their Design and Technology lesson this week. We have designed and are making our own stuffed toys using skills such as: cutting accurately, threading needles, attaching appendages and buttons to fabric, decorating with different stitches and joining pieces of fabric together with a blanket stitch. A huge well done to all the children for their patience and resilience as some of these skills can be very tricky. Read more

The children thought a good friend needed Read more

Crucifixion

In todays lesson we explored what does the crucifying of Jesus mean to us? We looked at the story of Pilate condemning Jesus and Jesus being crucified. We reflected on Jesus’ sacrifice and thought about the sacrifices we have made in our lives. We then re created the story of the crucifixion through drama and came up with some fantastic pieces. Well done Year 3!
