Wheels, Axles and Axle Holders with Willows

This half term in DT, we have been learning about wheels, axles and axle holders. We found out what the words meant, and how each part works. Shades and tones

During our Art lesson this week we looked at making different shades and tones. We made different shades by adding black to a colour and different tints by adding white to a colour. Next half term we will be using this skill when creating paintings.  

Is it a solid or a liquid?

Year 4 were very excited today as we made some oobleck during our Science lesson. We know from our knowledge organisers that scientist find it difficult to categorise which state of matter oobleck is so we were intrigued to find out why. Linking project

Year 4 are taking part in the linking project this year. We are creating friendships with a Year 4 class from Ashfield valley Primary School. This week the children received letters from their linking friend from Ashfield Valley. They were so excited and we have sent some letters back. The children are very excited to meet their new friend when we go to the M6 theatre next term.

Throughout our Art unit this half term, we have looked at the work of a number of famous artists. Autumn 🍂

Bluebells have been learning about Autumn. We have been on lots of autumn walks and we have been discussing the changes. We have enjoyed comparing the different leaves and trees, collecting conkers and using natural resources to make our own pictures.  

Artists

Throughout Autumn 1, year 6 have been exploring a selection of paintings through art appreciation activities. Over the six weeks drew have been collecting ideas in sketchbooks and planning their final piece after researching the life, techniques and artistic intentions of an artist that interests them. The children have produced some excellent pieces of Art. Well done Year 6.  

Different combinations

For our Design and Technology lesson we have been asked to make a healthy wrap. In the wrap we have been asked to think about the different food groups to include: protein -hummus, ham or chicken.
