Let there be light!

As part of our Design and technology work this half term, Year 5 will be designing and creating their own electronic Christmas cards. Last week we learnt all about the history of the greetings card and the Penny Black – the worlds first postage stamp. This week we discovered how to construct our own functional series circuits. The children had lots of fun and were very excited when their circuits lit up.

Science Ambassadors 2022

We met today with our new team of Science Ambassadors they all received a very special Science Ambassador badge to wear. We discussed what the role of a Science Ambassador entails and what responsibilities the pupils’ will have. French day

Year 2 has had a fantastic day today for French day.  We started the day with a French breakfast while watching a French episode of Bluey.  We have been listening to French songs and learning and saying different French phrases throughout the day. Year 1 Art ~ experimenting with line

Year 1 looked at creating different lines from horizontal to cross hatched lines. We made these lines with string and then used chalks to create these designs on black card. The next day, we explored further using crayons and a long piece of paper. We created a class piece and moved our crayons on the paper to music.

French Day in Year 1 Oaks

Today the children absolutely loved French day. They learnt all about where France was and how long it would take to walk from our school to the Eiffel Tower in Paris (nearly 5 days without stopping!)   They had a French breakfast of brioche and croissants. They also sang lots of songs in French and looked at French artists to create some interesting paintings.

Bonjour!

Juniper have had a fantastic French day. We enjoyed a ‘petit dejeuner’ of croissants and orange juice, followed by learning some facts about the country. We read a story in French and learnt a new French song. We challenged ourselves to build an Eiffel Tower model from dried spaghetti and marshmallows and even learnt a French dance.
