On Thursday Maple visited the M6 Theatre Company as part of our Linking Schools network. The children met and worked with a Year 4 class from Ashfield Valley Primary. As part of our history unit ‘Movers and Shakers’ and Black History month, we have been learning about Rosa Parks. We have learned about the impact she has had. She was arrested when she refused to give up her seat for a white passenger on a bus.

We used a paper plate to recreate our own designs of Clarice Cliffs ‘Circle Tree’ plate, we used bright colours to paint circles and finishing by using black paint and a straw to blow a tree design.
This afternoon, Maple have been learning about the digestive system. We watched Mrs Grindrod show us how our teeth and saliva mashed up some banana and biscuit. On Friday, the whole school recognised and celebrated World Mental Health day by taking part in Hello Yellow to raise money for the fantastic Young Minds charity. The children came to school dressed in yellow, listened to assemblies that taught them about mental health, and took part in a range of activities to support good mental health.
