Rock pool experience

Today we took part in a rock pool experience. We learnt lots of interesting facts about sea creatures, beaches and how we can better take care of marine life. We first had a talk and then we were able to hold lots of the creatures. This included crabs, starfish and anemones. We all had a fantastic time!

Our surprise visitors! 🐢🐍🐜🦎

Today, we had some surprise visitors in school to visit Reception! We were all very brave; we held a bearded dragon named Boris, a tortoise called Bentley, a monitor lizard called Buzz, lots of bugs and even a snake named Woody! Vitamin C and Scurvy

As part of our topic this half term we have been learning about James Lind and his discovery of how vitamin C cures scurvy. This afternoon we tasted different fruits and rated them from those that had the least vitamin C to those that had the most vitamin C based on how bitter and sour they tasted. Art Collage

Over the last couple of weeks, Year 5 have been working together to create some fantastic collage Art, which is proudly being displayed in the school hall. The children began working in pairs to create colourful “doodles” using pastels and water colours and some black and white pieces for contrast. Our final forest school

This week was our final forest school and we had such a lovely day. We looked at the story ‘The King of tiny things’, about a little fairy who helps all minibeasts and creatures around the forest; he oiled a slug who had lost his slime, freed a caterpillar that was stuck under a plant pot and even made a new leg for a Daddy long legs! Goodbye Butterflies 🦋

We have been looking after our butterflies for 5 weeks. We have made sure they have had lots of a food and a lovely safe home. Today, we have released our butterflies into Kaden’s garden. We were all very lucky and we were able to hold a butterfly. Then we watched them fly away. We will miss our butterflies!

Minibeasts in forest school!

We had we had another fantastic forest school this week, we haunted for minibeasts, checked our bug houses from last week to see if there had been any visitors to them.
