Birch’s school trip to Magna

What a fantastic day we have had at Magna! Art Week

This week we have studied two artistic movements. First we looked at Pop art and created our own versions using the Arc De Triumphe. Then we studied Impressionism and the work of Henri Matisse and created portraits in a similar style. We thought carefully about tint, tone, shade and hue when we were painting.  

French week

This week we have revised everything we have learnt in French over the year. We then used these skills to have full conversations in French with a partner. We also played a French board  game and listened to French songs.

Knowsley Safari Park

We have all had a fantastic day today! We saw lots of animals around the Safari… We then had our lunch. It was very yummy and we ate it all up! We all then went into a classroom and had a Safari lesson. They taught us lots of interesting facts about animals. After going to the Safari school we went to see some birds and giraffes… Finally, we went to see the sea lion show. Read more

French Week

During French week we have all had lots of fun and enjoyed learning about France. We have been busy saying the register in French, learning our numbers in French and simple French greetings. Gardening

We have been out in Kayden’s Garden this morning to make sure our planter is ready for next week when the judges from Heywood in Bloom come to look. We made sure no weeds have grown and we watered our carrots. We then looked for sticks we could use as stems for our recycled bottle flowers that we made during Eco week and we planted them in the planter to make it look more colourful. Read more

This week has been French and Art week at St Luke’s. In art, we looked at the artist Monet. We worked on Art techniques such as mixing colours and creating texture using tissue, newspaper and different brush strokes before creating a background for our final piece. iRobot animals

To link in with our metals topic, we have been writing explanation texts for iRobots. We began by watching an award winning short film about a robot dog and discussed things such as its movements, how we understood its emotions and its relationship with its owner. We then wrote an explanation text of how an iRobot dog works. Included in this was a diagram with which we combined canine and technical language to label the parts. Read more
