Primary Colours

During French and art week we have been learning about primary colours. We went on a primary colour hunt around the playground and worked in pairs to find them. We wrote down each object next to the primary colour and took turns writing them down. After that we looked at mixing our primary colours and thought about which colours they would make. Miss Robinson mixed the blue and red paint and it made the colour Read more

French and Art Week

This week we are focusing on the French artist Monet. We experimented with colours (and learnt the French names for these), changing them to create lighter and darker colours in green and blue.   As Monet used a lot of greens and blues in his pictures, we decided to use these colours to experiment with.   We have also started drawing the Eiffel Tower as this links in with the French theme and also our Read more

Imagine that!

Year 2 had a fantastic time on their School trip. We made slime, bath bombs and fridge magnets. We also watched a science show where they made a Volcano and a rocket.

Monochrome art

Elm class have been looking at creating different shades of blue today using only blue, white and black. We then explored how we could use paint in different ways to try and create the sea ready for our beach painting at the end of the week.

Penny experiment

As part of our mighty metals topic we have looked at different types of metals and their properties including metals that easily rust. We then completed an experiment to see what happens to copper coins when placed in various liquids. Our recorded results showed that liquids that contain acid, sugar or both, helped to clean the coin of rust and dirt.

Our Caterpillars are changing

we had 30 Caterpillars in our reception class and we noticed they had all turned into cocoons. Miss Robinson showed the class how to move them over into the butterfly net. Miss Brown then moved each child’s Caterpillar into the next. This morning we did not have any butterflies and then this afternoon we have noticed we have two!   We hope to have more butterflies in our classroom by the end of the week! Read more

3D shapes

We explored 3D shapes and their properties today. We started the lesson by having a game of Bingo where the teacher described the shapes and they had to work out which one she was thinking of.   We then did a boys v girls game to try and name the shapes with the properties.   Then finally, we made 3D shapes using the polydron. We had to work out which shapes we would need for Read more

Queen’s Park Forces

As part of our mighty metals topic we have been learning about forces. We went to Queen’s Park to look at what forces were present in the playground. We then drew and labelled forces and contact or non-contact force on the equipment. We then focussed on the force friction by conducting an experiment to find out ‘Which material would make the best mat for a heater skelter ride.’ We did this by timing various materials Read more
