A great first week in Hawthorn! We ended our first week by completing our first scarf lesson based the on ‘me and my relationship’ theme. The children worked collaboratively in teams to reenact certain scenarios using only their bodies and their voices. This task was to encourage children to work as a group and make decisions together.
Year 2 Ash have had lots of fun during our first week back after the Summer. They have settled really well into Year 2. We have completed lots of art lessons, an introduction to the Great Fire of London, a lesson about online safety and a lesson about light where we went of a sources of light hunt.

After 5 weeks of competition, our Euros football finals finally came to a thrilling end. First up our girls’ competition. A fantastic final was decided with almost the last kick of the game, a single goal enough for the win. The boys’ final was even more nail-biting. This week in picture news we have been looking at different careers. We drew picture of what we want to be when we are older and then were then asked ‘Are all jobs equal?’
After being inspired by our careers week, a number of children in Year 6 set about setting up a business to raise money for school funds. They designed, manufactured, marketed and sold a variety of custom made bracelets, raising over £60. The girls decided that they would like to spend the money on purchasing more “Little People, Big Dreams” books to add to our ever-growing collection of careers-related literature.
