During this week’s RE lesson we’ve been thinking about answers to the question: Is God real? What do Christians think? The children came up with some really thought-provoking answers. We then discussed what we thought God might look like. We made references to titles he’s been given in the Bible, such as, Creator, Almighty, Father, Rock, Light. The children then created some ‘Wanted’ posters to illustrate what God looked like to them.
We have been learning about the Great Fire of London and have been writing a letter to the King to tell him about the dangers and why the fire spread so fast. We have also been creating some crowns on the creative table, role play using the puppets and houses of London and designing our own fire engines.

Today we had a visit from Touchstones museums. They came to talk to us about the Romans which is our History topic for this half term. We looked at a map to see where the Romans originated from and then we looked at some vexillum’s which is a flag used by the Roman army. As part of our art topic, we created artwork with a meaning, inspired by our Christian Values. We looked at our values, and words and phrases associated with them. We used charcoal to create light and shadow after taping our message with masking tape.
Today we have been working on our grammar to find and identify different nouns. We have been looking for common and proper nouns and then grouping them using collective nouns or parting them using partitive-nouns
We have had lots of fun in PE with Mrs Hughes practising football skills. We have been learning how to stop a ball with control using our feet.
Year 6 have had the opportunity to watch the ‘Blurred Lines’ video and monologue, which explore the issues young people face with regards to county lines. Yesterday the children had their first sessions of forest school of the year! The children were absolutely brilliant. The children worked well together to complete their activities. All staff commented how well behaved the children were during their time at forest school. The children were able to to learn how to complete knots, paint and search for bugs.
