Darwin is most famous for his ‘Theory of Evolution’ and how natural selection and evolution was evident during his studies of the finches of the Galapagos Islands.

We looked at how we could study the differences between the beaks of each finch and how this has helped them to adapt and survive.

We have already toured the islands on Google Streetview and know how the conditions differ on each island. This helped us to understand that the finches on each island have a different diet and their beaks allow them to feed on different food sources from seeds, to insects, to cacti.

Using a range of equipment, we looked at which beaks could effectively transfer rice and laces between plates and what food source they would be most suited to.
