As part of our studies on Darwin’s arrival and studies on the Galapagos islands, we created watercolour paintings of what he would have seen as he arrived on and ventured throughout the islands.

We looked at how we could effectively mix colours, use different shades of the same colour, and use light and dark shades to create depth in our paintings.

The results made for excellent viewing and gave us a sense of what Darwin would have been greeted by when he arrived on the HMS Beagle.
