Wow! What amazing patterns the children have created this afternoon!

As part of our RE topic this half term (Who is a Muslim and what do they believe?), we have been learning about Islamic Art. The children studied some examples of Islamic art and discussed how the shapes were arranged in a repeating pattern, and how some of the shapes overlapped and interlaced.

Then, armed with chalk, the children decorated the playground using Islamic geometric art designs! We came up with a word which meant a lot to us, such as ‘love’, ‘family’, ‘friendship’ and ‘respect’ and wrote this around our pattern.

What a lovely end to the week!
