KS1 Athletics Event.
KS 1 children took part in the Heywood Sports partnership athletics competition, held at Heywood Sports Village.
First up were the races. The girls were up first and were amazing, competing against other incredible runners.
After the initial races, it was the turn of the boys, who ran like lightning and were also excellent.
The competition continued with Year 2 girls competing. All of the runners were spectacular and represented the school very well.
After the individual races were the more intense, team relay races. The girls worked really well as a team, finishing in an incredible time. The fury of the races led to an incredible atmosphere in the sports hall, with the sound of the starting whistle igniting rapturous applause from a roaring crowd.
The competition then moved onto the field events: javelin throw; speed bounce; long jump; balance.
In the speed bounce event, the boys clocked nearly 20 rebounds in just 30 seconds, with girls racking up 18!
In an amazing javelin contest, one of our team threw 7.45 meters, one of the longest in the whole competition.
All of the children represented the school incredibly well, working well as a team and enjoying the chance to compete against other schools in Heywood.
