After a successful Macmillan coffee morning, which raised over £170, St Luke’s still had a few tasty donations left over.

Staff took the remaining cakes and treats to Roeacre Court sheltered housing to help contribute to their coffee morning and provide some extra treats for residents and their visiting family members.

The residents were extremely welcoming to the staff and were overjoyed at the treats we had brought.

Staff from St. Luke’s had chance to talk to residents and it was amazing to discover that some of the residents had grandchildren who attended the school or were past pupils, and also some who attended St. Luke’s school before it moved into its current building!

It was great to have the chance to talk about past generations about the changes at St. Luke’s, including the new building works which were completed over the summer. Some of the guests and residents even stopped to compliment staff on the quality of Kaden’s Garden and wished us luck in current and future Heywood in Bloom competitions, commenting on how many people discuss how beautiful the garden is as they pass on the way to Queen’s Park.

It was a lovely way to top off a very successful morning and all for a great cause.

We would like to thank the staff and residents of Roeacre Court for their hospitality and warm welcome during our visit this morning.
