Coding week in Year 5

Year 5 have been working hard in their computing lessons this half term. We have learnt some new vocabulary and thinking about algorithms, abstraction and decomposition in computer science. The children have used Purple Mash to code a simple traffic light system. We also used a football game and thought Read more

Coding week

For Coding week we have been using Purple Mash to create a program using a given design. We planned an algorithm that included collision detection.  We used ‘The Princess and the frog’ to create a set of algorithms.  We needed to move the princess to the right then when the Read more

Year 1 Oaks Coding

Today we looked at coding and what coding means! We loved trying to make the fish move in the correct direction. Some of us drew the coding blocks, to indicate where the fish would move and what blocks to click.

Coding Week

As part of Coding week, Year 6 looked at creating their own games on Scratch.   The children used brief guides and their own coding knowledge to create one of three games: tennis, archery or cycling.   They were able to write lines of code using sensing blocks, variables and Read more

Coding

This week during computing, Year 6 have been looking at coding. They have explored, investigated and made different games on scratch. The children worked very hard, thought about the schools secrets of success (don’t give up, concentrate and push yourself) whilst using scratch. Well done.

Creating pictures

For computing we have been using 2paint a picture to create different pictures using different styles.  We have been looking at impressionism and pointillist styles then creating our own pictures.  We linked it to our Art topic on Superheroes.  We created pictures of superheroes using the pointillist template:
