Year 2 are studying Andy Warhol as part of Art Week this week. To begin, Elm enjoyed learning all about Warhol and his pop art, working together to locate interesting facts about him around the playground. Some facts we found interesting included how Warhol was excluded from art club while he was at school because he was too good, and how his mother encouraged him by giving him chocolate bars for each page he completed in his colouring book! The children said that if Andy Warhol was alive today, they would have liked him to paint Queen Elizabeth II, Neil Armstrong, and Robert Downey Jr!

We then began to create eye-catching backgrounds for the pop art we will be creating later this week. They look fantastic so far, well done Elm!

Elm described art at St Luke’s as ‘colourful, creative and peaceful.’

What a lovely start to the new term!
