Generosity

This week in RE Year 5 have been discussing what it means to be generous. We listened to the story of Jesus and Zacchaeus and discussed how Jesus was able to turn Zacchaeus into a generous person. The children discussed how generosity isn’t just amount how much money a person can give but is also about time, kindness, love etc. The children then created their own posters showing what generosity means to them.

Science – home experiments (week1).

As last years home experiments were so popular, we have decided to do them again. Over the next few weeks, we will be posting different experiments on the blog that you can do at home with your parents or carers. This week our aim is to get 20 children across the school to participate in the challenge, do you think you’ve got what it takes to be a scientist? Well read on to find out Read more

Afterwards they met Santa then went on to have a snowball fight with Elsa and Olaf. Finally they met some really cute reindeer’s and then sang Christmas songs with the elves. It’s been such a wonderful day and the Read more

The Rock Cycle

In Year 4 we have been learning about the Rock Cycle. We began our Science lesson today with a Kahoot to go over facts that we had previously learnt about rocks. We then used play dough to explain the process of how the different rocks are formed. We began with igneous rock that is created when magma cools to form rock. We then created sedimentary rock which is made when layers of sediment settle on Read more

Investigating chemical reactions

This afternoon we have been investigating chemical reactions. We observed the effect of changing the amount of vinegar on the reaction with sodium bicarbonate. We discussed our findings and concluded that the more vinegar there is in the mixture that is added to the sodium bicarbonate, the more it fizzed and had a stronger reaction. We wrote up the results of our experiment using scientific words such as: independent, dependent and control variables.
