Oral Health

This morning, we have had a visit from some oral health nurses. They talked to us about the importance of looking after our teeth and what happens if we forget to brush our teeth. We then took part in lots of activities, we looked at models of good and bad teeth, looked at dentist equipment, practised brushing ‘sugar baddies’ off teeth and sorted foods into good and bad for our teeth. We learnt so much!

Toys from the past

In history, we have been learning about and comparing toys of past and present. Today, our classroom was set up to look like a toy museum. We used post-it notes to ask questions about the toys and discussed how we thought they were used. We then spent some time playing with the toys which led us to write more enquiry questions.

Cookery Club Week 5 – Sausage Rolls

This week may be the favourite week yet. We have made sausage rolls using: sausage meat, apple sauce, sage, egg, poppy seeds and pastry. The children had fun squeezing out the sausage meat then stirring in the apple and sage. We shaped the sausagemeat into a log across the pastry then folded one side over the other to create our roll. The children egg washed the pastry and added poppy seeds. The results were amazing!

Wiggle Worship

This week, Snowdrops have read the story of ‘Jesus washes feet’. We talked about how Jesus had performed a caring act to show his friends that he loved them and how this links to our Christian Value of Friendship. As a class, we thought of some ways that we can show our friends that we love them and made a list on the board.

Christmas Fair

As we approach our Christmas Fair, Year 5 have been busy supporting the event by showing business acumen and enterprising skills. They have supported the fair by costing, budgeting, purchasing and making lots of fantastic sweet treats that can be bought on the day across various stalls. As well as these delicious sweet treats, there are also a range of tombolas, refreshments and stalls with local businesses selling some fantastic Christmas crafts and gifts. Don’t Read more

Visit to the care home with Holy Family

Today, our Ethos Council went to visit Springbank care home along with the Ethos council from Holy Family.  The Ethos council children made Christingles with the residents and explained what each part means. They also helped to colour in pictures of Christingles and then wrote prayers for the residents. At the end, we lit the candles on the Christingles and said a prayer together. We had a great time and really enjoyed spending time with Read more

Geography – fieldwork

As part of our Geography topic (fieldwork), Year 6 visited Queen’s Park to conduct a field sketch. The children looked at how and why geographers conduct field sketches before they went out to do their own. The children used OASIS (orientation, annotation, sight, information and scale) as a key to ensure they had included everything they needed for a successful sketch. Well done Year 6.
