If God is everywhere, why go to a place of worship?

This half term we are answering the big question ‘If God is everywhere, why go to a place of worship?’. During todays lesson we investigated Hinduism and the similarities and differences between worshipping at home or at a Mandir. The children really enjoyed learning about a different religion and looking at some of the items that Hindu people use to create a shrine.

Shared Learning with parents

This morning was our shared learning when our parents came into school to complete an activity with us and then we got to have lunch together. As we are currently reading the book, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, our task was to invent a new chocolate bar, come up with a name for it and create packaging for it. We had lots of fun!

This half-term, Year 2 are working with clay in Art. In our first lesson, we went down to our forest school and explored the Clay by  experimenting with tools to make marks, shaping the clay with our hands and then making a model of our choice. Multiplying 2 digits by 2 digits

Juniper have worked extremely hard this week to learn a written method for multiplying 2 digits by 2 digits. We have written a recipe for being successful. All of us have shown great progress since the start of the week and today we have been able to work in pairs, coaching each other using the recipe and identifying success or where we had made a mistake. A really big well done to everyone!

3D sculptures

In Art, year one have been learning about sculptures. We have looked and lots of examples and used paper and card to create our own sculptures. Some children made towers and cone shapes to create their own castles. Other children have thought about how we can create different textures using paper and card. The children have enjoyed these lessons and have asked to carry on working in these during cool time.

Forest school

Our first Forest school session was so much fun. As this was our first time in Year 2 we discussed the rules of Forest school. We then became explorers and went exploring the forest area. We completed a scavenger hunt looking for things like: spiky leaves, rocks, spider webs, feathers. Afterwards we created a picture frame using sticks and created a picture about what we did over Christmas.

Blogging

Today, year 6 started their new topic in computing – blogging. We first discussed what a blog is and how they work. We also discussed who might use a blog and why. They we looked at the key vocabulary linked to our new topic and the features of a blog before writing our own blog in role as a Fairytale baddy.

Travel Journal Experience days

This half-term, Year 1 are going to be writing a travel journal. Yesterday we learnt about what a travel journal is and watched a travel vlog to help us gather ideas about the type of things we will write about. Today we watched videos about safaris so we could remember facts about the setting and animals we may see and pretended to go on our own safari. We then had ‘safari’ COOL time, in which Read more
