Experimenting with Clay

This half-term, Year 2 are working with clay in Art. In our first lesson, we explored the Clay by  experimenting with tools to make marks, shaping the clay with our hands and then making a model of our choice. In the following lesson, we created ‘pinch pots’ and added our own designs by using tools to make patterns or adding other shaped pieces of clay. We had lots of fun experimenting and exploring with clay!

Magic Potions

Shared learning

This morning, Rowan were delighted to be able to welcome parents back in for shared learning and lunch. As part of our new Science topic, Sustainability, we have been looking at the ways to reduce, reuse and recycle. To support this, we worked with parents to recycle plastic in bottles, turning them into planters, which will form part of an eco flower wall in the school grounds. Macaroni Comma

In our grammar lesson this week, Year 2 learnt how to use commas in a list. After learning about why we use commas, we first practiced sentences verbally by using ‘Kung Fu Punctuation’. We then worked in groups to complete sentences by adding lists, using dry macaroni as commas.

Shared Learning
